Folate is type of vitamin B – B9, helping make and repair DNA and produce red blood cells. Folate deficiency is one of the reasons for developing anemia (lack of red blood cells). It also supports proper fetus development to avoid birth defects. Great source of folate are dark green vegetables, such as broccoli, kale, spinach as well as asparagus and legumes (lentils, beans and peas). Other food rich in folate is beef liver.
